One woman begins her day in warm natural light while another settles into a calm evening ritual

The science behind the Protocol

Your gut and brain are already talking.

Calmer focus by day. A softer landing at night.

The Protocol works both sides of that conversation: a morning formula for the day side, an evening formula for the night side, and a published human trial behind every active in both.

Follow the science

A 3pm slump and a 10pm wind-down are two different problems.

So the Protocol solves them separately. Both formulas share the same synbiotic foundation. What changes is the layer on top, and the job it does.

Shared in every serving Bimuno® GOS + DR7
01 / 03

A prebiotic and a probiotic, each with its own published record.

Bimuno® GOS is a prebiotic: the food beneficial gut bacteria use. L. plantarum DR7 is a single named strain studied for how it supports gut-brain axis function. Together they are a complementary synbiotic, two ingredients each carrying its own human evidence, in both formulas.

Every serving carries 1.39 g of active GOS and 1 billion CFU of DR7. Across your morning and evening servings that is at least 2.75 g of active GOS a day.

02 / 03

Calm that does not cost you sharpness.

Most things that take the edge off also take the edge off your thinking. L-theanine does not work that way. Daily Calm Focus carries 200 mg, the amount studied for a calm but attentive mental state, alongside a full B-complex in active forms that supports energy metabolism.

03 / 03

The magnesium worth taking at night.

Magnesium is not one ingredient. Most products use oxide because it is the cheapest, and it is the reason magnesium has the reputation it does. Nightly Rest & Restore uses bisglycinate, magnesium bound to glycine, at 200 mg of elemental magnesium in every evening serving.

Daily Calm Focus. Bimuno® 1.83 g, delivering 1.39 g active GOS. L. plantarum DR7, 1 billion CFU. L-theanine 200 mg. Thiamin 25 mg. Riboflavin 15 mg. Pantothenic acid 50 mg. Vitamin B6 as pyridoxal-5-phosphate 10 mg. Vitamin B12 as methylcobalamin 250 mcg.

Nightly Rest & Restore. Bimuno® 1.83 g, delivering 1.39 g active GOS. L. plantarum DR7, 1 billion CFU. Magnesium as magnesium bisglycinate, 200 mg elemental.

Every active here has a human trial behind it.

These four are the ones that decided the formulas.

Study 01

Bimuno® GOS

Digestive comfort improved inside the first week.

By the end of week one, mean bloating, flatulence, and abdominal-discomfort scores were lower than both baseline and placebo. The difference held at week two. One Protocol serving carries 1.39 g of active GOS; the trial used 1.37 g a day.

The study record
People
91 randomized, 83 analyzed per protocol. Adults 18 to 65 with self-reported bloating, abdominal pain, or flatulence.
Amount studied
2.75 g Bimuno® powder daily, delivering 1.37 g active GOS.
Design
7-week randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled crossover.
Result
p<0.001 against baseline and placebo.
Also measured
Bowel-movement frequency, stool consistency, quality of life, and mood. No significant difference on any of them.
Funding
Clasado funded the study; author affiliations included Clasado Research Services.

Study 02

L. plantarum DR7

Stress scores fell by week eight.

In 111 adults with moderate stress, DASS-42 stress scores were lower than placebo at week eight. Both Protocol formulas carry the same 1 billion CFU of DR7 that trial used.

The study record
People
111 adults aged 18 to 60 with moderate stress.
Amount studied
1 billion CFU of L. plantarum DR7 daily.
Design
12-week randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial.
Result
Stress score p=0.024 at week 8.
Funding
Supported by the 2015 Yeungnam University Research Grant. One author was affiliated with Clinical Nutrition International. The authors declared no competing financial conflicts.

Study 03

L-theanine

A steadier response to a stress spike.

Sixty minutes after a timed mental-arithmetic challenge, salivary cortisol dropped further with 200 mg of L-theanine than with placebo. This is the acute response: the spike, and how fast it settles. Daily Calm Focus carries 200 mg of L-theanine. The trial used AlphaWave® branded L-theanine.

The study record
People
16 healthy adults.
Amount studied
A single 200 mg dose of AlphaWave® L-theanine.
Design
Triple-blind, placebo-controlled crossover challenge.
Result
p<0.001 at 60 minutes post-dose.
Material
Daily Calm Focus supplies 200 mg L-theanine. The trial used AlphaWave® material.
Funding
Funded by Ethical Naturals, which supplied AlphaWave®. One author was an Ethical Naturals employee.

Study 04

Magnesium bisglycinate

Four weeks of better-rated sleep.

In 155 adults reporting poor sleep, magnesium bisglycinate improved self-rated sleep quality more than placebo over four weeks. Nightly Rest & Restore carries 200 mg of elemental magnesium in that same bisglycinate form.

The study record
People
155 healthy adults aged 18 to 65 reporting poor sleep quality.
Amount studied
250 mg elemental magnesium as bisglycinate.
Design
4-week randomized, placebo-controlled trial.
Result
Insomnia Severity Index changed −3.9 with magnesium against −2.3 with placebo. p=0.049, standardized effect d=0.20.
How it was measured
By self-report. Objective sleep measures did not differ.
