Most of the work was deciding what to leave out.

The Serene Biotics team: Per Rehné, Ida Adams, and Dr. Yashaswini Yeragunta, MD

No melatonin, no caffeine, no long panel built to look impressive on a shelf. Everything that stayed had to earn the space. That is why you get a probiotic strain we name, the prebiotic fiber that feeds it, and doses set by the published research.

Calm. Clear. Connected.

1822 the year an accident gave one doctor a rare window into a living stomach

Two hundred years ago a surgeon watched a man’s mood slow his digestion.

An army surgeon, William Beaumont, treated a young fur trapper named Alexis St. Martin, whose stomach wound healed into a small, permanent opening. For years he watched digestion directly through it, and noticed something striking: when St. Martin was angry or on edge, his digestion slowed.

Beaumont published those observations in 1833, among the first direct evidence that the gut and the mind are connected. Two centuries later that connection has a name, the gut-brain axis, and a deep body of published research. It is the idea Serene Biotics is built on.

Who gets to decide what goes in?

  1. Per Rehné, co-founder and product development advisor, Serene Biotics

    Per Rehné

    Co-founder & Product Development Advisor

Decades in food and nutrition, most of it spent on ingredients with real research behind them. Per sets each dose against the published trials rather than against a cost target, and he is the one who argues an ingredient back out of a formula when the evidence for it is thin.

  2. Ida Adams, creative co-founder, Serene Biotics

    Ida Adams

    Creative Co-founder

Ida shapes the part you actually experience, which is the flavor, the texture, and whether the ritual survives a real Tuesday. Peach Mango and Hibiscus Vanilla are hers. Her work is what turns rigorous science into something you look forward to.

  3. Dr. Yashaswini Yeragunta, MD, medical advisor, Serene Biotics

    Dr. Yashaswini Yeragunta, MD

    Medical Advisor · triple board-certified

Reviews and advises the protocol to help hold it to a rigorous, evidence-led standard. She takes it herself.

We pair the strain with the fiber that feeds it.

Bimuno® GOS is a prebiotic fiber, which means it is food for the bacteria already living in your gut. It is in the morning formula and in the evening one, so the fiber and the strain always arrive together.

at least 2.75 g of prebiotic fiber a day

Vulevic 2018 followed 91 adults with frequent bloating, gas, or abdominal discomfort on the studied dose of 1.37 g a day. They reported better digestive comfort inside the first week.

The three you would look up anyway
L-theanineThe calm-focus amino acid, at the amount published trials used · morning formula 200 mg
Elemental magnesium, as bisglycinateMagnesium bound to glycine, the form the category mostly skips for cheaper oxide · evening formula 200 mg
L. plantarum DR7Studies run on this exact strain, made by Kaneka · in both formulas 1 billion CFU

Three rules we will not bend.

No exceptions for marketing, for cost of goods, or for a panel that would look longer.

  1. Match the dose to the research

When the research establishes an amount, that is the amount that goes in. Nothing here is dosed down to protect a margin.

  2. Subtract, don't pad

An ingredient stays only if the evidence carries it. That rule is why there is no melatonin in the evening formula, and why the list is short enough to read on the carton.

  3. Show the work

The trials behind each active sit on the science page where you can read them yourself. Every finished lot must clear testing before it ships.

Two servings a day is the entire ask.

One in the morning, one before bed, for 24-hour gut-brain support. Thirty days of each arrive in two cartons that ship together, and by the second week it is just something you do.
